Job Fair to Connect Job Seekers with Employers
Eastern Ontario residents looking for work or a career change should not miss the Cornwall Job Fair, taking place on Wednesday February 24 at the Cornwall Civic Complex.
More than 20 local employers will be showcasing employment opportunities at this focused recruitment event.
Job seekers will be able to meet with people who make hiring decisions face-to-face and learn first-hand what full-time, contract, part-time and volunteer work opportunities are currently available.
“We estimate that over 500 new jobs will need to be filled by the end of the year,” said Mark Boileau, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Cornwall. “The Job Fair helps employers gauge the local workforce, and it is not unusual to have first interviews performed right at the fair.”
Companies exhibiting at the fair include Benson, SigmaPoint, StarTek, Teleperformance, Shoppers Drug Mart and Olymel. Service Canada, Cornwall Community Hospital and St. Lawrence College will also have booths.
In addition to companies promoting employment opportunities, a variety of community service organizations will be at the fair with information to help local residents evaluate career plans.
The Job Fair is free and open to the general public. It will be held from 10 am to 8 pm on Wednesday February 24 at the Cornwall Civic Complex in the Salons on the lower level. Ample free parking is available. Job seekers are advised to bring along copies of their resumes.
The Cornwall Job Fair has been organized by Cornwall Economic Development in partnership with the Eastern Ontario Training Board, the Stormont Dundas Glengarry Community Futures Development Corporation (SDG CFDC), Job Zone d’emploi, Centre d'apprentissage et de formation PLUS (CAF +), Le réseau de développement économique et d'employabilité de l'Ontario (RDEE), Glengarry Liaison, Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre, Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce and Team Cornwall.
A full list of exhibitors is available on the Choose Cornwall website (www.ChooseCornwall.ca). The website also includes tips for job-seekers along with additional information about the fair.
